God's Crew Special Ministry
Our Services
God's CREW will provide One-On-One Assistants (Buddies) to children who would benefit from assistance inside the regular church service as well as within the class room. We also provide a Sensory Room in order to assist those children who are overstimulated from the service or classroom. The Sensory Room is not staffed and all children who enter are required to be with either their parent or their Buddy.
Currently we are providing Buddies to those children who would benefit from them during the 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday service. This includes in the worship area if requested by the parent(s) as well as during Children's Church.
God's CREW's goal is to expand this service to all services and functions of the church once they are comfortable with the number of servants they have as well as experience. Your child(ren)'s safety is top priority to us and we want to serve them to the best of our ability.
Our Mission
The purpose of God's CREW at First Baptist Church in Fort Scott, KS special needs ministry is to facilitate inclusion inside the life of the church for the individual with additional needs and for their family.
In support of our broader church mission, the goals of the special needs ministry are to lead families affected by unique needs into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
The objectives of the ministry are fulfilled through the ministry's efforts:
(1) To create an accepting church environment for the family impacted by special needs or disability.
(2) To develop an appropriate accommodation plan for the individual with additional needs that benefits the individual while working within the policies and resources of the church.
The services of the special needs ministry may be requested by the individual themselves, the family of the individual, or the ministry leader(s) serving the individual.
For the purpose of the special needs ministry, the terms "additional needs," "special needs," and "disability" encompasses a broad range of unique needs, including but not limited to: learning differences, intellectual disability, neurological disorders, developmental delays, communication disorders, social skills deficits, physical disabilities, sensory needs, and medical conditions. A student experiencing a significant life-change may also benefit from the services of the special needs ministry for a period of time (e.g., placed with an assigned buddy or in an alternate learning environment). Understanding why a particular individual requires the services of the ministry is often unimportant. What is important is that the ministry is able to assist the identified individuals to help them experience success in the church setting.
The God's CREW special needs ministry does not provide therapy, behavior modification programs, or medical intervention. To the best of our abilities, our ministry servants will strive to follow guidance from, and utilize tools provided by, parents. And, medical assistance will be provided in emergency situations.
If you are interested in allowing us to serve your child(ren) and family, please take the time to visit us at http://godscrew.weebly.com/ and complete the intake questionnaire. Please be thorough as this is what we use to serve your child and we want to serve them to the best of our abilities.
